Dirt/Gravel Route suggestions

Post by OHjim »

All - My brother is heading into KC the first weekend in June (4-6) with his CRF250L. We were planning on participating in the Flint Hills Stampede and were all signed up until my wife informed me that that Saturday night is our daughter's graduation party. He was looking forward to the Stampede since he frequented that area in the 70's while at K-State studying Agronomy, however I wasn't looking forward to all the riders (I like solo up to small groups).

So, I am trying to put together something he and I can do together. I'll most likely be on my KLX250S. We have all day Friday and much of Saturday. We can head out on Friday, camp, and return on Saturday or make two loops from/to Lenexa each day. We also may have time to go out Sunday, but definitely have to be in town by 5pm Sat. Does anyone have any good local routes or other suggestions? A few years ago, I think it was DirtFarmer who sent me tracks in the flint hills which were great, but I'm not sure those are doable in our timeframe. Now, where did I put those.......

Thanks,
Jim

Linn county has some really good riding , Mound City area and clear over to the Garnett area ,mostly between the two including north and south 20 miles each way. If you are interested in that area I have some routes I can look up and email you.

you can also go to the Backroads Touring Kansas Facebook site and go to the links tab. Several people posted routes that I have ether made or someone shared from rides I used to host. From Lenexa they would all be good days riding. But if Birdman gives you a route... It's a good one!
There is absolutely no excuse for what I am about to do.

bird man - I would love to see what you have. My dad owned farms in Blue Mound (just a few miles south of ajayhawkfan's place) and Kincaid. My brother used the Kincaid one to put himself through college with the crop and cattle sales every summer. DirtFarmer sent me a loop in the Flint Hills so we could do that one day and yours the next.
