As many of you know, Backwoods BBQ has yet to open for the season and a lot of people have wondered why they missed their usual spring re-opening after being closed for the winter. It turns out that Anita Bacon has been battling breast cancer and they have been unable to run the restaurant due to the time and financial restraints that that battle has taken its toll on. The BBQ restaurant is their main source of income, so you can imagine the financial stress they must be under with it not opening.

Most of the information is on the flyer in the photograph above, but if anyone has any questions or comments about it, let me know and I will try to get ahold of the correct people to get answers for you.

Other than that, we hope to have a great turnout for this cause as the family could really use the help. I'll be down at the RR campground (home of WUDI, White Rock Enduro, and Rally @ the Rock) all weekend and you guys are welcome to come down and camp as my visitor(s) for $15 per night, that we can donate to the family.

Thanks in advance!

Man, hate that there having to go through this. I bet I gofundme site would get some traction - I'd be in for contributing that way but probably can't make the BBQ.

I'll check to see if there is any way for people who can't make it to donate and get back to you as soon as I know!

Thanks!

I've been asked by a few people if there was some way that they could help even though they won't be able to make the event this weekend- here's the information for those of you who would like to help out with the Backwood's BBQ fundraiser to help aid in Anita's treatment of breast cancer. If you would like to donate, but won't be able to make it to the event this weekend, you can send a donation via PayPal to rationalricko@gmail.com, or if you would rather send a check via mail it can be sent to: 2062 Madison 4275 Elkins, AR 72727. Be sure to mention in the comments on PayPal that it is for the Backwoods BBQ Benefit.

Both that PayPal account and physical address belong to Rick Owens, who is the Razorback Riders member that is in charge of the benefit. If anyone has any other questions, let me know.

Thanks!

Hey, Kendall.

Wondering how the event went (hoping there was a good turnout), and if you happen to know any latest news about Cory & Anita?

Unfortunately, I don't have an update since Alissa and I had to bail on attending the event ourselves. We were planning on camping the whole weekend, but the reality of doing that with Alissa hobbling around on crutches in the heat just didn't seem that appealing once it came down to it. No one in the club put any updates on FB either, so I probably won't know anything until the next club meeting in July.

I'll definitely put an update here as soon as I know something though.
