Ride up to Oregon in June

Heading up to Burn Oregon first week in June (No, not to support the Bundy's)

Anywho, everyone and their dog has warned me to stay off 70, so that's out, but what's a good, semi interesting way to make it 1600 miles in 3 days?

On the way back, I may go for the saddle sore or bun burner award, we'll see how I feel and if i'm up to either one.

So far, I'm thinking of heading out of work around noon and hit Atwood KS, then from there to Vernal UT, then up to Grandview ID and only a few hours then into Burns.

Thoughts?

Then somewhere in western ks jog north, 183 is a good choice, into Nebraska. Go north and hit either 26 or 2 (2 is my preference) west both are interesting. There are several different options but in the Alliance ,Chadron, Lusk area work your way north and west til you hit I 90 and go west to Buffalo Wy. Then north to Sherdian Wy. Take 14 west over the Big Horn mountains to Cody haven't gone any further than Yellowstone so that is all I have experience with.
Just reread your 1st post and my idea doesn't fit your plans so never mind ,it is a fun ride though.

I like to go north out of St Francis and get on 34 west. If you've been through Rocky Mtn Natl park or don't want to take that much time, take hiway 14 over the divide and it runs into hiway 40 which goes right into Vernel. I've heard there's some awesome trails and backroads around Gould, that area is on my list, i've only been there in a car. Hiway 30 through SW Wyoming and SE Idaho is also one of my favorite detours.
