Chadwick Jan.30th
Based on weather reports and my desperate need to ride I'm heading to Chadwick on the 30th. I could possibly be talked into riding Friday or Sunday (partial day) if there is interest.

Re: Chadwick Jan.30th
Saw your post and didn't want to ignore you as I would like to return to Chadwick sometime soon. But I think I might be better off going to Mulberry Mountain with "allkid" on my "debut" ride on the bikes I have. You might want to go with us too?

I appreciate the invite, but I can't get away that long. You will enjoy Arkansas. Fantastic riding....now the group of guys you will be riding with...questionable.

Mike, if the weather does what it says it's going to do, I'm IN.

Re: Chadwick Jan.30th
Here's what I know so far:
Mike (riding Friday and Saturday)
Jeff - buddy of mine (Saturday only)
Doug (riding Friday and Saturday)
Doug's neighbor (Saturday only)
Troy (Saturday only???)
I believe Doug and myself will carpool down Friday. Anyone else who wants to come Friday is welcome to ride with us but we'll need a trailer to haul all the bikes.
At Chadwick I typically park at the pavilion area which is a quarter mile off the the camp grounds on trail 101 (I think 101). It has a bathroom and covered pinic tables.
Kick stands up 9:30?? Or just tell me when you will arrive and we'll make sure to meet you in the parking lot.

Re: Chadwick Jan.30th
I now have a "deployment" I need to do for work at 2 am this Sat morning. I expect it to take me less than 1 hour. It's a little risky for me to be gone this Saturday. So I'm probably out now, but....we'll see! If I do come, I'll be driving down Sat morning and a little groggy.

Going to softly feather this in during dinner with the wife (again) to see what I get. If I can get a nod for Saturday, it'll be my son and me. I'll get back to the forum this evening I hope.

How was Chadwick?! I bet it was great! I have not made it there since they made the N side single-track only.
I REALLY wanted to join you guys, but opted to ride with my brother, Kyle, and Luc out N of Manhattan at the Randolph ORV area. It was WAY muddier than we expected it to be. If I had known it was that bad, I would not have gone, BUT...as pretty much every time I fire up the bike, I had a total blast!
When I went to unload my bike, I pulled her back down the ramp out of my truck, and like I normally do, I went to grab front brake to hold the bike as I step back onto my stool. Nothing. No brake at all. The bike and I just fell out of the truck, but I didn't get hurt. I rode the whole afternoon without an ounce of front brake. Honestly, I barely missed it--didn't hamper my ride at all, but I had to attack the steep downhills with a bit more caution.
Brake fluid is full to top, and it worked when I put the bike away. I think it had to have worked when I loaded the bike in the morning, but maybe not. I'll be sure to do a front brake check before rolling a bike out of my truck again!

Re: Chadwick Jan.30th
Troy, not sure which bike gave you front brake problems but my '13 350XCFW has done this to me a couple of times now. Quick fix for me has been to do a reverse bleed by prying apart the front brake pads, then apply the front brake many times until pressure starts to build back up, just like you do after reinstalling the front wheel and need to reset the front brakes. Hope this helps. And no I don't know the root cause of this, I've had the bike 3 1/2 years and it has only happened twice.

Yeah, my 2013 EXC 500. So thanks--I'll give that a try. Not like a front brake could save your life or anything.Ed M wrote:Troy, not sure which bike gave you front brake problems but my '13 350XCFW has done this to me a couple of times now. Falling out of truck with the bike sounds scary! I had fears of that this weekend loading and unloading mine. I haven't got the step stool thing figured out yet even though I have watched you do it with success.troy wrote:How was Chadwick?! I bet it was great! Re: Chadwick Jan.30th
No doubt, loading and unloading a bike can be butt-puckering. A guy could get hurt pretty bad in that process. You definitely build your confidence after you've done it a few hundred times! I'm still not man enough to ride it in like I've seen a couple of studs do.carlrf wrote:...I haven't got the step stool thing figured out yet even though I have watched you do it with success.
