Memorial Day Weekend
Saturday & Sunday
May 23 & 24

Map with exact location of Link's place

2 DAYS OF GNARLY SINGLE-TRACK
Come ride with "Link" at Freeman's Off-Road Resort!
Image
$100 PER PERSON = 2 nights lodging in the rustic cabins (Fri & Sat)
PLUS breakfast Sat & Sun mornings
PLUS an expert local guide will show us the hidden gems!

TOTAL OF 14 RIDERS ALLOWED
7 SPOTS LEFT

The Freeman Off-Road Resort is near Bunker, MO in the Mark Twain Forest. It is about a 5 hour drive from the KC metro.

Memorial Day Weekend is Link's "opening weekend" each year, and we book it a year in advance! This is a primo single-track ride that is NOT for the faint of heart. Hate to get scratches on your dirt bike plastics? DO NOT COME on this ride. Scared of water crossings? This is NOT the ride for you.

NO WHINERS ALLOWED

WHAT TO BRING
  • Light-weight, trail-worthy motorcycle (TAG REQUIRED? Legally: YES, Practically: NO)
  • ATGATT
  • Camelbak or some other kind of water bladder. HYDRATE
  • Enough gas for 2 days (come with a full tank plus an extra 2 gallons to top off before day 2)
  • Your testicles. If you are a woman, borrow a pair for this ride.
  • Sleeping bag & pillow
  • Lawn chair
  • BYOB
  • Easy-going attitude
I went out of my way to make you realize this is a SINGLE-TRACK ride. This is not an easy dualsport or adventure ride. Do not bring a 650 or larger class bike unless you happened to participate at a competitive level in a Red Bull Hard Enduro race. (Skill is an equalizer.) That said, this is a friendly group and if you are not all that confident on your dirt bike, we'll help you through the tougher stuff. It's how you become a better rider, and we've all been the slowest guy in the group at some time in our riding journey. This is not a race--it's a ride.

Bring CASH. OR, if you'd like to pay with a credit card or PayPal, you can pay me via PayPal using troy@troywolf.com and I will bring cash for Link. If you choose this, make sure you indicate the transaction is personal rather than business to avoid the fee.

RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Riding motorcycles is dangerous.

Sounds like a great time! Count me in. Colleen is skipping this trip. I think she has had her share of Boondockn'.

Troy, thank you for sharing your POV video. It saddens me to see that your riding skills have fallen off drastically. And why did the spectators call you Jonny?

That was the warm-up lap. I never want the competition to know who they are up against, so I purposely ride sloppy during the first lap or 2. I want those losers to think they stand a chance. When I compete at that level, I use a pseudoname to avoid all the attention from the ladies and raving fans. 8)

I love to b_tch and moan, but I'd still like to do this ride. If I can swing it I could only ride Saturday. I assume I wouldn't take one of the 7 available spots since I wouldn't be staying in the cabin?

Will there be a creek bed you can fall into? Because that's really the deciding factor here ;)

Our lake plans fell through.... I'm in for both days. Will be staying in Salem so hopefully not affecting how many slots are left.

Plenty of places to fall and get hurt. You'll love it on your Vstrom!

Sorry about the family lake plans, but GLAD you'll be riding with us. I understand you are slightly injured from the last ride, so we'll take it nice and easy on you. 8)

My neighbor, Dan, is coming along, too! I know he's gonna LOVE it! He picked up a really nice slightly used 300 XCW recently that is untested, so fingers crossed all is good. :D

Troy,

Did you mean no WHINERS?

Urban Dictionary

Whiner:

A little unmasculine feminine bitch who whines about everything and anyone and cant just let things lie. They will go on for years and act like a total p u s s y over nothing. They create drama.

OK Sean, THIS applies to you?

See Y'all Friday.

Cheers,

+ our famous guide, trailsmith, cabin builder, bike mechanic, local ecologist and lifetime Sierra Club member, Link

Room for more riders, and don't worry about the weather. This ride is in the Mark Twain Forest and the ground is rocky enough to allow us to ride regardless. Saturday is shaping up to be a great day!
