Hi,

Some of us STL folks are going this year, 6 - 8 March. Is there gonna be a KC contingent?

Hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Read this web page to get a good idea of what WUDI is:
http://www.jebruns.com/Wudi17/wudi17.html

The 2015 WUDI is the 17th annual--so this is a long-standing event. This is a dirt-bike, single-track, wear-you-out kind of ride near White Rock Mountain in NE Arkansas. However, in recent years, there have been small contingencies of folks enjoying easier dualsport routes. In any case, all are invited, but don't head out into the singletrack unless you have an appropriate weapon and are willing to scratch it!

I hope to attend again this year.

There is remote camping and lots of RV spots right there at the event grounds. Some of us rent a cabin off Hwy 23 and ride trails to get over to the campground in the mornings.

It's a really great group of folks and even family friendly with a small playground right there at the grounds. Some folks do bring the wife & kids along. There is usually a catered meal option one night.

I'll be there. Or would that be "I'll be HERE"? Either way, I'll be at WUDI!

Be sure to bring your cold weather gear! It might be a bit cold the beginning of March.

Cheers,

This ride is 2 days after my wife's birthday and the weekend we would likely celebrate....need to gently see if I can make this ride and celebrate a different weekend!!! Does this make me a bad husband?

I have the problem with my wife during hunting season. I moved her birthday to the 3rd Wednesday of November so I have every weekend available to hunt.

Hanes & Foster,

I booked a very nice, roomy cabin just off 23 close to the T with 16. We can ride 100% off-road trails to the WUDI campground. As of right now, only 3 beds out of 6 are spoken for. 3 full bathrooms, washer & dryer, huge kitchen.

Cost per person will be about $35/night x 3 nights. Let me know if you want in.

Hanes, get a baby-sitter and focus on your wife. 8)

I really hate to miss this ride. John does a great job organizing and it has always been a lot of fun.

Strike one: my son Kramer will be out of town.

Strike two: my neice and her two kids will be in town for the weekend from New York.

Strike three: Saturday, March 7 is our wedding anniversary.

If there was only two of the 3 I would give it a shot, but with 3 strikes me going to WUDI is not in the cards this year.

Well CRAP!!!

Just got the following email:

"Bad news, folks. I just got a call from the Razorback Riders board and they have decided to call off Wudi this year. They are concerned that the trails are too wet right now, and the forecast does not show them having much drying time between now and the event. I was blindsided by this and only heard wind of it this afternoon, so am as disappointed as I'm sure everyone else is. I was getting so pumped about the event starting soon . But after 16 years of memorable events, there will be no Wudi this year.

I apologize to everyone that has scheduled vacation and done a lot of prep work to come to the event. I know from when I lived in MN and was coming to these rides instead of hosting them, how much time and effort (and anticipation to go riding!) is spent getting ready. We'll miss seeing everyone and hope to re-group for next year.

Again, I'm very sorry to be delivering this news.

John Brunsgaard - jeb"

Yea,

A real bummer. I guess I will have to return the auxillary floats I got for my 350.

This is actually better. First, there will not be a crowd, always a good thing. Second, if it is really wet it will separate the men from the boys. Anyone remember the infamous April Fools ride? :D

I am still planning on going.

Hey Joe!

Fair warning- it is sloppier than hell down here in AR, so if you end up coming down still be prepared to slide all over the place. The explanation that I got as far as the reason for the cancellation is that the Razorback Riders are still waiting on the USFS to issue them their permit for the White Rock Enduro and they feel that having WUDI in the slop may jeopardize that process.

That being said, they've made progress by leaps and bounds with the USFS and are super close to having almost all of the single track being made legit and legal. This is surprising considering that they kind of got into trouble with them last year during the enduro and were forced to run the race on the ATV blue loop.

I'd say if you're coming down anyway, you might want to plan on riding dual sports on the gravel and maybe hitting up the ATV trails, but I'm sure the powers that be in the club would appreciate people staying off the single track since it is still kind of a sensitive situation.

The sloppy part doesn't bother me. At all. Like I said above, its better this way, keep all the spodes home. That being said, I do really appreciate the heads up on the USFS and the club. It is good to hear that they are making headway with them and I(and my boys) will NOT ride any single track because of that.

Troy- Maybe it would be better to head to Rola? Keep away from ark until they get their approval.

FYI, with WUDI canceled, the St. Louis contingency is planning to ride at Link's Freeman Off-Road Resort as I understand. If you'd like to connect with them, send a message to either MoRidin or MrHix here on the forum.

I don't plan to ride this coming weekend. Have fun! 8)
