Thinking about riding tomorrow am. Either a little dual sport ride, or take the dirty bike to Randolph. Anyone else riding?
Update: I rode @ Randolph. Fun, hot, sweaty, home by noon.

Not dirt for me this weekend, but I am going to point my F800GS SE for a few days with my buddy, Scottie.

Put your tent on the bike and ride down to Eddie's ranch.

Deadline for BBQ sign up was last Fri, though.

Looks like you had adventure, Creekside!
While attended the TC to KC BBQ Run & Camp this past Saturday, I led 3 other riders on a 60 or 70 mile dualsport SE of Blue Mound, KS that included several creek and low-water crossings. It is a route Eddie took me on many years ago, so I pulled it out of the archive.
We really enjoyed the route. I wish you all could have been there to see Luc take a dive off his 1190R into 4 feet of water as his beast toppled over on the low-water concrete bridge! Luc went completely under, but the bike stayed on the bridge, although upside down on the steep, concrete slope.
Luc is a very good rider, so at first I was like "WHAT HAPPENED?!" The bridge had large tree trunks washed up and across the bridge--almost as if purposely there to block passage. However, there was just enough room to the sides to zig-zag around them. Well...almost enough I guess! The rest of us were on smaller dirt bikes. Luc's big 1190 has wide foot pegs and Luc has big feet! His peg or boot caught the end of the log as he was making the turn around it--right on the edge of the concrete before the steep slope into the water. It stopped the bike and shoved him over to the right and into the water!
With no way to get a foot down on the right side with that slope, Luc's quick thinking did the right thing--he dove into the water to keep from getting pinned by the bike. I think his cell phone survived!
The bonus was two-fold. Luc got to enjoy evaporative cooling the rest of the ride and we had a designated person to walk across the creeks to test the water depth!
We ended up bailing on two crossings that were
doable, but almost certainly not without filling up your boots. One was also blocked by a large tree on the other side that had fallen across the road. On the last crossing we came to, Luc said, "It's only knee deep". Well, Luc is a big guy so I had him stand next to my KTM 500. His knee is over the top of my tires. That is deep water to ride through and it was a long crossing. Luc wanted to go for it but the rest of us chickened out. Once you are soaking wet, you have less resistance to deep water crossings!

Luc is lucky. Yikes what a drop. That could have ended up not so well for him or his bike. That puts the 'adventure' in adventure riding for sure. Sounds like you all where having a great time there.

Well written report on our ride sat. Troy......"doable" is all in your prospective. The crossing at the end of his story was the last one of the day 35 miles from base camp. It was by far (2-3x) the farthest across of any we had done that day and like he said 21 inch tire deep in running water. (and Luc only walked part way across, it well could have been deeper had he gone further.) To add a ominous note to the scene , over to the side half washed up on the bank was a recently washed down the stream ford ranger. It was noted by one of our riding members that not one of us had any tools with us ,in the event of a drown out. Up to this point we all had managed to stay dry ,except for Luc. It was getting late and as it turned out we nearly missed the BBQ as it was. So I believe better judgment prevailed. I agree once you are wet your resistance to deep water crossings changes. It was a great ride. Thanks Troy.
Luc text me today and his cell phone did not survive the swim.

yes this was fun! I cannot believe I made such a stupid mistake, I was pretty lucky in my misfortune that the bike did not follow me in the water
Here is proof from Larry that indeed it really happened
