This is a last minute, poorly planned effort so consider carefully before replying. :D The route and plan will change on the fly. You'll need to be self sufficient and find something to do on Friday night if you go that far.

I need to be in North Carolina Friday afternoon, so I'm leaving early tomorrow morning. May try to get a few miles in tonight after work. I have less time on the way down so that's gonna be a pretty straight ride. I'll spend the night with my wife, and be ready to return on Saturday morning.

If anyone is interested in riding with me part or all the way, let me know. If you have some route suggestions, I'd like to hear them.

Route suggestions? I hear the Rockies are nice. Maybe you can hit those then swing by the California & Oregon coasts on your way to NC.

Wife? Does your girlfriend know about her? Awkward.

Have fun!

Funny you should say that, I was in Oregon about a week ago. That's when my girlfriend became my wife. :D

Well then, she DOES know about her! Congratulations are in order! (Note that I'm not actually giving you "congratulations"--just pointing out that they are in order."

Chris, I've thought about this more, and have decided to personally offer this:

CONGRATULATIONS!

Chris should be congratulated. His wife should have her head examined. :D

And they say long distance relationships don't work!

When I met my wife of 27+ years, I was living in El Toro, CA, and she was living in Oakwood, OH.

Congratulations, Chris.

Not much of a report to post up about my ride. 8 states in 4 days; a lot of highway. I will say in Virginia there is a state highway 42 just west of Roanoke that is worth more exploring. The road winds through the valley with large number of turns and elevation changes that reminded me of Missouri Route 125 above Bradleyville.

There were a number of dirty dual sports I met on the way so some the side roads I bet are worth some investigation. In particular the ones where the state has put up signs warning folks not to follow their gps directions down.

Didnt take many pics but below is an obligatory "my bike parked at a place I stayed photo" and a historical marker. Bardstown is on the "Bourbon Trail" and the day I was there was national bourbon day. I tried to like the stuff but I'm afraid I just couldn't.
