2014 Hillbilly Dualsport Tour

2014 Eureka Springs Hillbilly Dualsport Tour
April 3-4-5 Travelers Inn will again be the Host motel
2044 E Van Buren (hyway 62) Eureka Springs Arkansas

Call 479 363 6664 or If no answer call 478 253 5600 this # is another motel they own. Travelers Inn is getting a major remodel and will be closed till March so you might not get thru to them at the first #. We again get the meeting room and a very modest breakfast. At least 2 breakfast places are right across the road if you want a good meal.

This ride is FREE There are no fees for anything you do here, exception is you are responsible for booking and paying for your own room if you want one. Camping for 5$ a tent is available at the motel.I don’t think they have hookups for RVs, but right up the road a mile or so is a spot for that.

Just as a little legal disclaimer--------- this ride is nothing more than a group of likeminded people getting together to celebrate life. No groups or people are in charge, and what you do at this ride is totally up to you. YOU are responsible for what you do or don't do as far as attending goes. We all want to ride and have fun, so smile, be nice, and be safe.

If I get shirts printed they will be sold at cost and I will need your money up front. More info to come on the shirts if there is enough interest.

I have routes from several years past that will be available in the future. Groups get formed at the rider meetings at 7-7:30 in the mornings. Groups stagger out after that when they feel like it. If two groups are riding the same route we try to have 30 minutes between them or one group ride the route in the opposite direction. You will be able to find a group that meets your skills. One or more GPS units are a must for a group, not just to stay on route, but to figure out where to bail out if the need comes up. The ride no faster than the slowest guy in your group can do safely guideline should be followed.

Anywhere from 50 to 150 riders will be here, just depends on the year. It will be Diversity weekend in Eureka Springs again this year which can get quite interesting at the bars, and around town. Bring your skirts and heels if you feel the need.

See you there Uncle Dave

Same weekend as WUDI. The Hillbilly Dualsport is a perfect option for those asking if there would be dualsport routes at WUDI. While some guys were thinking to dualsport WUDI, the Hillbilly Dualsport is a guaranteed good time with proven routes.

Looking forward to a chance to get back to the Jasper area. I have a couple loops through the best and most scenic. I have some new areas included we haven't traditionally ridden. Trying to figure out if I can make the Hillbilly ride. Still working out a few reliability items on the KLX400. The latest and greatest is the common water pump seepage. The silicone fix didn't work so now I have to replace the seal.

OK, so I rode my bicycle around Lake Shawnee today, and I'm feeling pretty good. :D

If nothing else stupid happens, I might actually be able to make it. I would probably get there early and park my Truck camper on site at the motel.

Then try to learn how to ride like AJF..............................

I keep trying to find the Castle Bluffs area from HBDS 08 or 09. It was a good time, but my filtering the track down lost the detail to find it in topo. :(

Pretty sure one of my routes covers the Castle Bluffs area. I think I have the bike sorted out, so hoping I can make it. I some alternatives for anyone not wanting the "commuter" miles getting from Eureka Springs to the good areas. I have routes beginning and ending at Kingston. It's an easy 25 miles paved road to trailer there, cuts 70 or more miles off the ride and several hours.
We did this last April when I was staying in Eureka Springs. We starting riding about 9 and were back by 5 pm. You are not half wore out before you get into the mountains. This makes my brightest and best routes 150 and 130 miles. If someone wants to endure the pavement, it would easy to meet up with us at Kingston.

I think I'm ready. Been a long fall and winter, bought my KLX400 back last fall. The engine cases had been replaced by the Oak Grove, Mo. motorcycle shop. Woo, what a chop shop. None of the engine seals were replaced, and poor assembly resulted in a warped head. When I drained the oil, a alignment peg fell out! I ended up finding an entire engine as a replacement. New clutch, chain, battery, and tires has the bike back in shape.

I have a couple day routes created that mix scenic with low maintenance sections. I plan to stay more on the southeastern side of the ride area. Concentrating more on the Jasper area and points south. To reduce long days on "commuter" roads getting to the good areas, I also have an option for anyone wanting to trailer/ride pavement to Kingston before starting the good sections.

I will most likely be looking for someone needing a bunk mate. How work is going I don't want to reserve a room knowing plans can change pretty quick. If someone is looking to split the cost of a room, LMK.

David H. suggested a friend fresh out of prison just as excited by diversity weekend as he was the DS ride....think I'll pass.

I have gas options on all my loops. Kingston to Kingston, none of the loops are over 160 miles. Kingston has gas along with stops in Jasper and possibly Deer/Nail if needed.

Good to see you again Phil!

Didn't fully answer your question... We could possibly trailer both days if folks wanted to. If we choose to trailer one day, I am open to whatever day works best for folks in the group.

Big thanx to Dave H. Another truly fun weekend in Arkansas. Super big thanx to Larry (MacWildcat) for taking us on a ride that was really an adventure. Had an awesome time riding with my good buds Bob, Darl and Cliff...........

Aside, Hank Moody has mad skills on the F800.........

Spotted, White Ford pickup loaded with orange dirty bikes on I-49.....probably exceeding the posted speed limit. Hope you guys had a great ride !!!
