Fun ride in Manhattan November 2nd

This has been a long time in the making, but it is finally going to happen, I am organizing a ride in Manhattan.
For those of you who don't know me, my wife and I had been fortunate to find a place with some acreage. It has been almost 3 years now, but since then the idea was to have some kind of a trail set up to ride. So I finally got around to it, I have about 1.5 miles laid out so far and hope to have at least 1/2 a mile more by then.
- the trail is intended to be pretty slow in general, but more like a trail that will force you/me to practice my skills. With that being said, there is nothing really complicated, but for the first timer on a offroad bike it may be a little bit frustrating. Everything can easily be bypassed if it ends up being too much of a challenge.
Now after having seeing the display of expertise at Kyle's place, I am not worried
The idea is to make a fun day out of it, ride BS some, ride some more and repeat... For lunch we'll figure out how to get something from town so that we have more time to play.
Since the trail is pretty slow and requires a lot of moving around on the bike, I can guarantee you that we will not be cold.
Here is a video of the part I have gotten done so far

Two reservations please. Looks like a blast. What are you riding in the video?

I'm game. I was wondering what you're riding as well. Looks like a Husky of some sort.

I thought it was a little kid's Yamaha from the sound and shadows. You look huge on the bike....but you are a big dude.

Maybe I should ride it with my 950 so it makes me look smaller

HA!! Another Berg!! What year and size?
The trail you laid out looks like fun and would be awfully tempting to get a little racey on....though I know that's not the intention of the ride.

Got a pretty decent deal on a 2013 FE 501, same suspension as 2014 KTM the way I understand it. Fork is nice, but I probably need to get shock and forks resprung and revalved, I think I am too heavy for it...
Need to spend some time on the trail picking up some rocks, lots of lose rock fist size or bigger hard to see that all a sudden bounce you off the track could be pretty dangerous if people are going at a pretty good clip.
Savage said he is coming to test ride it saturday, so there will be an unbiased opinion.

Looks like a lot of fun Luc! I was wanting to ride over and help break the trails in this weekend as well, but then the storms started rolling in this week. I bet it's pretty muddy out there right now, I know my place is.

RECON REPORT:
Luc's trails are no joke! He's got some really good stuff over there.
Thanks for showing us a good time.

Oops, my message from my phone was messed up!
Thanks guys for coming , it was fun. Glad you guys liked the trail, always hard to find the right balance, too slow, too fast, too technical, too easy, etc... Hopefully there will be a little bit of everything for everybody!

I had a great time riding with Kyle and Luc! I was working up a sweat back in the technical areas. I haven't ridden tight trails like that in YEARS. All the trails I ride have been opened up and smoothed out by quads, so Luc's area was totally different than what I've gotten use to.
Thanks for letting us come out and test out your hard work. Hopefully we helped get them broke in some.
I made a vid for the heck of it.

Luc doesn't ride slow enough to know if his new bike will lug on the trails, so he asked if I could test it out for him.

I don't know why, and no disrespect meant to anyone, but Luc's trails looked a whole lot more fun (challenging) on Savage's video. I even went back and looked at Lucs' to see if it was the same place. I think Savage's video quality really made a difference. In any case, I can't wait to ride those trails. Like Savage, most of what I'm able to ride is beat to death by quads. Nothing like the single track you find in Arkansas. Looking forward to the 2nd Luc.

I know that my video lost quality when it went from my computer to youtube, but I also believe that I have it set for lower resolution, probably something that I need to update.
Oh and Rick, do not get your hopes too high, it is not that challenging, I have seen you at Randolph and at Kyle's place

My video quality may look better because I ride so much slower.

Rick, I just added one section of trail specifically for you
a couple of rock steps followed by some loose rocks and a 90 degree turn to go up the 7 or 8 feet bank
Do not worry guys for the ones not wanting the challenge, there is an easy bypass!

One more week to go!
I plan on attending unless it is less than 35 degrees AND snowing.
If the weather is decent I would be up for riding School Creek or Randolph on Sunday Nov. 3rd, non-locals would be welcome to crash at my place Saturday night....just throwing that out there.

After riding at Bird Man's place, my little guy was pretty insistent about me making an "Easy" trail for him. So I made the rest of the trail a kid friendly trail it is mainly a path mowed in the hay meadow to teach how to turn etc. In any case it can be linked to the other trail so we can go about 2.4 miles before going on the same place again.

I'd say "Little Luc" is an awfully good rider for his age. I suspect it won't be long before he breaks out a screwdriver to get rid of that "governor" you installed.
