I'm new to forums altogether but I'm looking for other adventure riders that are planning to ride out to steamboat springs Colorado to attend KTMs Adventure Rider Rally. Event takes place September 13th 14th and 15th. I would like to ride out there with at least one other person maybe more.

Welcome to RideForum, piratekiller!

You've got a few 990 ADV riders here on RideForum for sure. Kendall is right, though, that you'll find a much larger audience on AdvRider for this sort of thing. Here is a thread that discusses this KTM rally and even some guys from Iowa looking for riders to join them for the journey--might be easy to hookup with them.

Unfortunately I'm out of extended motorcycle vacation time for 2013. :(

Well, damn! I started looking into it after clicking on Troy's link and I'll be damned if it doesn't look like a lot of fun!

I am in no way in, but I am definitely now considering it if there is any way to swing it. I'll have to do some looking into it!

Welcome to the form! I have been thinking about this too. I saw your post over on advrider looking for others too when wishing/thinking about it. Thought about pm'ing but figured I would just waste your time. This is just a my thinking and other dribble...

Watching Lewis and doing some class on "how to ride this bike I got" would be great. Riding on forest roads would be great too! Heck what would not be great?

With that said I do have a large dual bike trailer, quad cab 4x4 truck, tent, popup, all the tools, and assorted hauling crap.

The campgrounds in town look like a cabin would be the best bet $49, tent next $29. Popup would be ok but we would get it dirty -so that's out (unless I fight for it) and its expensive to get there $200 in gas & $100 ramp for bikes, so cabin really anyways as the spot is $41 popup or 49 cabin - why bother. Out of town the national parks have a lot of tent spots with pit toilets.

But I don't have knobbies, better skid plate, kick stand fix, rear rack on bike for protection of muffler/side/subframe?, the right gear [off road or adv boots & dirt helmet? gloves? goggles?] and only have street skills really. I think next year is probably better but I will bring it up. Its the same for this tarkc Oct thing. I need to spend to get ready, and this month is tuition time & a lot of doctors bills. :? But I am angling for a way if I can find one!

Troy are you not suppose to be Colorado?
