Daryl & I had a nice ride the long way around to Holt then back to the Northland. We met only 5 other riders at Dolly's in Holt. 4 of them had ridden all the way from Omaha, NE! They had heard about the little Holt ride, but were a little disapointed to find only 3 KC area guys show up!
Daryl & I caught up with 2 other dualsports on the way there--a new KTM something (larger dualsport) and a blue DRZ400. We are not sure who it was, but we thought it might have been Rusty & Tim? However, the DRZ rider was not riding aggressively enough to have been Tim.
We tried to get them to stop so we could hook up and ride together, but they wouldn't stop. We took our planned route which split off from them. Funny thing is, we ran into them again head on 14 miles from Holt on the North side of Smithville Lake---they would not have had time to reach Holt, eat, and be at the point we met them. We stopped and waved, but again, they rode on past without so much as a slowdown. So who was it, and why didn't they go to Holt?
Btw, my chicken-fried pork steak was rare. I don't think that's safe, and it tasted terrible. If I die of food poisoning, you'll know what happened.
I really like the Holt idea, and I'm glad Rusty put it together, but the Holt location is dead--and Dolly's aint exactly a fun place to go hang out and the food is not anything to be excited about. Too bad Joe's went under--he tried to make it fun for us.
I always thought the Wabash BBQ in Excelsior Springs would make a nice ride--good BBQ. It's a fun place located in an old train station. In the summer time, they do outdoor concerts and such.
