Last minute, but in lieu of the cancelled Walter's Ranch ride, several of us,(the brothers, James and Scott, Scott's son, Kendall and Randy), are planning on doing a one day ride this sunday at chadwick. Chadwick didn't get the snow like we did and the forecast for Sunday at Chadwick is 53. We plan on leaving early Sunday morning and coming back later on Sunday. I've done the one day chadwick ride several times and it makes for a long day but always worth it....especially when we have 20 inches of snow.
Depending on how many want to go, we can figure rides out later Saturday.

There's an old joke about how you can tell a lawyer is lying -- when his lips are moving.
Well, when Randy says "that was the worst of it"...

I think Randy was just messing with you guys. When we'd stop to discuss routes he would just wink and say "watch where this one ends up" and then laugh maniacally.
In all honesty, trying to lead an "easy" ride at Chadwick is completely impossible. For those of us that are used to riding there, the best way to navigate it is to just pick a direction and go. When you come to a fork, choose one and see what happens. The downside to this method is that you sometimes (OK- all the time) end up at something gnarly that you didn't remember was there.
I hope you guys had a good time despite some of the hardships encountered. For two guys that hadn't ever been to Chadwick riding heavy DRZ's you did an awesome job! I had a good time, even when we were getting stuck on hillsides and slopping through muddy creek beds. Now that you guys know what to expect, the next time you go will be easier!

I think this would qualify as my ride report for my first trip to Chadwick:

I think next time I'll find a group of 12 year old kids to follow, as they are probably more aligned to my skill level when climbing hills
