Friday is looking great for a back road ride--you are right! Unfortunately, I'll be in the office staring at a computer screen. I'm not going to complain too much, though--unemployed people don't have these "problems". 8)

Hopefully a rider or 3 will be able to join you for something.

I was out yesterday (Tue.) in Platte County and the gravel roads were not fun! Ice, mud, and ruts which made my DR seem even heavier. Snow drifts also covered half of the road in places. Shaded areas were still ice covered which caused me to clinch the seat cover tightly with both hands on the bars! :D

I think I will take a ride on the black roads (Bobs definition of highway)friday. Any one have any ideas on someplace interesting to see and a good place to eat. Figuring on a 4-5 hour ride.

In what area? If Troy or some others of us were out for a "short" ride, lunch could be two states away.

Oh.... lets say within 75-100 miles of Garnett Ks.any direction and staying away from large cities.
I have considered Council Grove or the Mapleton Cafe. I realize a very diverse set of considerations. There are some nice places to ride ,even on black top, to and from the Mapleton area.

Well...... I didn't ride. Sigh.............
The crud finally caught up with me, and I didn't feel up to it. Pisses me off

I ended up working ebay to sell off parts from a Model 99 Bultaco motor I had laying around so I can buy some more farkels for the WR. I see a larger tank in my future! :D

That would only save me about 100 bucks over the cost of a 3 gallon tank. Fill her full, and forget about it for 180 miles.

True, but it would be nice to be able to move your 1-2 gallons around to different bikes. Just I thought (which I'm thinking about for myself)

I pulled the trigger last night........... $250 shipped. Makes the bike look completely stock, and leaves my rear rack free for camping gear or what ever.
