For all of you fence sitters about joining an off-road riding area I am going to be at Bender's (see earlier post with Troy's very accurate map). We are working on the trails, getting some new ones, fixing fence, etc. from 9 to 1 each day. Your help would be appreciated. After 1 we are going to ride. You can see everything up close and personal to see if you like it. Perry Keegan, the trail boss, will have paperwork that you can sign. Feel free to call me if you have questions.

I've always wanted to try Benders but it has never worked out but this Sunday should work. I've got church in the morning so I wouldn't be able to get there until about 12:30...how convenient, right after the work! I would skip church but I work this Sunday morning so I could leave from Lees Summit around 10:45 and should be able to get there about 12:30. My son, who is 22 years old, would like to also come...is that okay?
I believe that I looked up the correct directions....just south of I-70 between Lawrence and Topeka?

See if this link still works:

Troy's map in Google. If you have been down the turnpike you may remember there is a bridge (it crosses US 40 right at the Shawnee / Douglas County line and the rest stop is just a bit west of this bridge). This bridge is about 1 1/2 miles north of the riding area. As you leave Big Springs, KS (a grease spot in the road) on US 40 West you will head down a hill and turn toward that bridge. Just before the bridge about 150 yards is 1900 Rd. that heads west. Take that road about 100 yards and turn south on W.1st st. Head south about 1 1/2 miles. You then have to turn west again as you run into the rock quarry entrance. You are looking at Bender's property on the south of this little gravel road. Go about 100 yards to the gate. It should be unlocked but chained up. Come on in, park and look us up.

Allkid,
Had a great ride yesterday with you and your very fast son. He was on my tail all the time unless I was accelerating down a straighter path in which case the 500 simply puts more power down. A good day of riding and trail maintenance. Hope you can join and come out there again!
