DONE! I ordered a 2' x 10' banner that will look like this:

So look for that hanging in the trees at the campground!

Sounds good. I'll consider the extra bed taken unless you tell me otherwise. I was asking about your brother since one of the beds is a king size and you guys (since you're brothers) could comfortably share it.

It's kind of a hard sell to offer two guys who aren't related a bed to share. LOL!

That didn't take long! Nice looking banner. I guess we should go riding in Moab to fit the theme of it!

You should see the last person that called me a squid...oh that's right, nobody has seen him for a very long time! LOL Yes I definately plan on going and it will be my last riding trip this year except for a couple day rides at Milford or Tuttle.

LOL! Is that guy at the bottom of Milford Lake? You should post up on here when you're going to ride out there- we'd probably join you if we don't have something else going on. Alissa loves riding there, so it doesn't take much to talk her into a trip out there.

I would heartily agree that the majority of folks that camp at Hogan's are a bit on the 'Red-Neck'd' side of life, but, a pretty friendly bunch overall.

While my little DL650 can't hang with the trails you all will be riding, Disney is just a few miles down the road from my house. So, as I've been reading this thread I've been entertaining the idea of just riding out one morning/afternoon and meeting everyone for a quick breakfast/dinner.

Now, I've seen Troy and KC before, kind of done with that ;) But, it'd be nice to put a face to some of the people I haven't met yet.

YEAH! Camp cook! (For those that don't know, jasoomian was a top-notch chef in a former life.) Scottie, I'm excited to hear the menu plan! Thanks for volunteering to cook for everyone. Do you want folks to post up their specific allergies and preferences?

Will there be a "barbarian night"? (A meal where no one is allowed to use utensils. The menu is then designed to be as sloppy as possible! Origins are circa 1983? Created by Scottie.)

Maybe this time around we'll have a breeze and less than 99% humidity down there.

Doh, so my banner design will not work. A guy created that image for me a few months ago, and I thought I'd be lazy and just use it...but the resolution is too low for a large banner.

SO...here's what the banner will look like hanging in the campground!

Hmmm....fender stickers...

T-Shirts are only $59.95 each. How many of you want one?

At that price, I'll take a dozen. What a bargain!

A little breeze would be awesome. I don't know how people camped there during August when it was 113 for like a month. Just not worth it. Brutal.

Camp cook? Have I fallen that far? :)

I do miss Barbarian Nights though, they'd be something that would work really well from the Camp Cook angle.

Rocktoberfest?

I'm not too worried, but apparently the weekend before Halloween (our weekend) is traditionally "Octoberfest" or "Rocktoberfest" at Disney. Information is sporadic and almost nothing exists talking about a 2012 event.

This indicates that some folks, at least, are going someplace other than Disney:

Even if the place is packed with rock crawlers, the bikes can find plenty of uncrowded trails to play on where the crawlers don't really go.

I have an old high school friend with a rock crawler I've been trying to get together with at Disney...He says he won't make it to see us the weekend of the 27th because he is going down the weekend of the 20th for ROCKTOBERFEST! We should be good to go and should have less of a crowd following a weekend like that.

It is as DRZ-friendly as the Huckleberry Horse trails where you rode the DRZ on Saturday. So YES! Depending on how much "fun" you want to have, I recommend you remove the turn signals and mirrors. Mirrors for sure. Please come.

Your brother, Chris, should come on the KLR, too. He won't be able to do everything on it, but he can mess around and have a great time. The riding will not be very organized--no routes or anything. It's a 2,500 acre playground with lots of open areas to mess around in. Chris can play on my KTM if he wants, too.

I just wish someone would bring a trials bike and let me play on it.

I'll talk to Jessie tonight. I think I can make this work but I would have to come down Friday night.

No problem--it's the kind of deal where even if all you do is come down for one day, you'll have fun. If you have other off-road toys, bring them. I've even seen guys running their off-road RC trucks out there. 8)

UPDATE
I just spoke to Hogan on the phone. Oct 27 & 28 is definitely his annual Octoberfest weekend. He is booked that weekend, although he tells me if we arrive earlier on Fri, we'll be able to get some spots to put camping trailer(s) and tents.

I told him I'd heard Octoberfest was the prior weekend this year, and he laughed. He said there is a club with 3 members that has decided to do an event the prior weekend and call it "Octoberfest". He said they are also trying to charge folks to be part of it. (He laughed there again.) Hogan's Octoberfest is always the weekend before Halloween, and he will be packed.

Other than finding good camping spots, I'm not concerned about the crowds. Bikes and rock-crawlers really don't compete on the trails--plenty of room in the 2,500 acres for everyone. The campground was packed when I was there, and we had zero crowd issues. It was kind of fun walking around camp at night watching the various hillbilly engineering taking place as folks tried to get their rigs rolling for the next run.

I called HOgan to ask about his FEMA trailers. He bought 9 non-circulated FEMA trailers. These are equivalent to a nice, 30' RV trailer. They sleep 4 guys if not sharing beds or 6 folks with couples and such. Also a pair of bunk beds for kids. They come with all bedding and linens and cookware--sounds like a nice setup. Price is $60/night, which at first I thought was high, but now that I know the setup, it sounds good for 4 guys to split the cost.

HOWEVER, all the FEMA trailers are booked for our weekend due to Octoberfest. :(

I know Kendall is bringing his camping trailer. Anyone else planning to bring a camping trailer or RV? We should get an estimate of how many trailers and tents so I can try to reserve a block of space for us.

I just rented this baby from Midwest Camper Rental for my accomodations, so I won't need your bed, Kendall!

It has 3 nice beds plus a crappy bunk. Awning, shower, toilet, kitchen, etc. $170 for the entire weekend--pick up on Thur eve, return late Sun or Mon. They have a popup camper with 2 beds available for $100 for entire weekend. "Where rednecks come to have fun" 8)
