I have the thoughts, but sanity quickly shuts them down. The only riding that interests me right now would be getting up at 5AM to haul my dirtbike to an off-road riding area and riding until about 10AM then heading home to nap in the A/C.

That said, if you go on a ride, no doubt you'll be glad you did. I have yet to actually regret a ride because of weather regardless of cold, heat, rain, hail, wind, etc. I've been riding in a hail storm at 10,000 feet while lightning crashing nearby raised the hair on my arms. I've been riding my KLR on the highway when the wind was so great I got scared and pulled off under a bridge waiting for the wind to die down. I've been on 3 day rides where I had to wait until 11 AM for the ice to melt off the road. I've been soaked to my underwear riding off-road with boots full of water. I don't regret any of those rides, and in fact, they are some of the most memorable.

Taking off from my house at 8:30am. Looks like I can't do a direct link. Have to got to backroads touring kansas and look in "lets ride the backroads", then under July 23rd Manhattan. I guess I assumed most active members checked out both sites.

There's some history here and not everyone goes to BTK site. That's all I have to say about that....

The wife and I are thinking of doing a ride Sunday morning from our house towards Garnett and into the Greeley area. She wants to see some of the places I have been telling her about and showing here pictures of. You are welcome to join us. Plan to ride in the morning and be home noon or shortly after.

I did some riding the in heat of the day. The thermometer said 105 degrees. I was cool while riding.

I'm beta testing a vest that is suppose to stay at 50 degrees for up to 4 hour and can be "recharged" in 15 minutes. It was not fully charged when I started riding and it stayed very comfortable under my riding jacket for 2.5 hours and parts are still cool now.

In most of the modern browsers, you can right-click any link and copy the URL or "location". So here is the direct link to the ride Savage is leading.

A little info.

This weekend I'm beta testing a vest that is suppose to stay at 50 degrees for up to 4 hour and can be "recharged" in 15 minutes. It was not fully charged when I started riding and it stayed very comfortable under my riding jacket while I used it. It is being used by the military on our battlefields today.

While riding this afternoon in 105 temperatures it kept me very comfortable for the 2 hours I used it. I literately had to open up my jacket a little because it was so cool.

It is not ice and is not plugged in and weighs only 6 pounds. The price point is about $200.

I will buy it if it lasted 3.5 to 4 hours in this temperature and can be recharged in 30 minutes of less. However some of the "hype" seems a little exaggerated.

Eight of us survived Quinton's ride Saturday. Made the loop around Tuttle Reservoir. Left at 8:30, back at 4:00. It was a warm one - 106 when we got back to Manhattan. Heat didn't feel too bad until the last 5 miles on pavement.

To all in the K.C. area, my work requires that I be out at all hours of the day and night...I highly recommend early a.m. urban adventure touring. Empty streets and quiet times leave the playground wide open...Richardson Drive, Cliff Drive, the west bottoms, the intercity raceway...big fun!!!!
