Bill and Ted's Wabaunsee Adventure.

Naw, Bill and Ted were busy Sunday so I did this one solo.

Sunday morning I decided to ride my route that covers the best-of-the-best in eastern Wabaunsee county. Left Manhattan at 7 a.m. to beat the heat, actually got some rain on the way out. Made my way over to Wamego and jumped off onto the low maintenance roads. It was surprisingly dry considering the severe storms that have gone through recently. Crossed I-70 on Vera road and made my way to the "roads" that link all the way to Eskridge. No wet spots but you definetly had to be alert due to erosion cuts after all the heavy rains.

Made my way to the infamous Dawson Hill Rd. (Box Turtle). Because Bill Common and Ted Sense were not along, I ventured in alone. Wow, definitely not a road anymore. I road through south to north, lots of drop offs and erosion cuts to contend with. I think some trail building would be in order to ride it north to south now. I was pretty glad I was on the KTM. Maybe next time Bill and Ted will ride along. Still not a wise place to venture into alone, spent the better part of an hour once trying to pry my upside down bike out a ravine! More awesome roads on my way toward Alma (thru the gated Trail Drive Rd.).

After fueling up the gas hog and cooling off in Alma, I made my way back to Manhattan. Back home by 11:15 before the heat got too bad.

Anytime someone wants to ride this route let me know, I never get enough of Wabaunsee county.

Looks like some good stuff, I want to go ride it in a couple weeks after I'm all settled in up here. If we are lucky, maybe we can get a break or two from this intense heat in August. If it is even hotter in August I'm going to start digging a cave to live in.
