Oct 9 2010-------------Long dual sport ride ( 200 + miles) with a brisk pace. No room for newbies, whiners or cry babies (just joking, but true), you must be an average to good rider that can ride gravel at 50 + mph. Lots of miles to cover and we can't wait for those that can't keep up or the ride won't get done. It is not a race and you will know with in 10 miles if you will fit in or not.

We will start in Lawrence at the Burger King in North Lawrence. Located next to the turnpike on North 3rd street ( I-70) at 7:30 am. I would be able to provide space for anyone who wants to come Friday night to camp out or in case of rain, my basement. Let me know so we can work out the details. It is a wonderful ride that should not be missed. 200 plus miles of anything from groomed gravel to deep rutted loose sandy road beds. It is one of the best rides Kansas has to offer.

I will post a GPS route soon so you could do it solo, or lead a group if you want. . I will only lead a group of 6, or 7 riders so as to make life easier on all involved. We will need more ride leaders if the group gets large. so far we have leaders for about 14, if you could lead a ride let that be known. Last year we had about 15 riders.

I still have the tracks from 07, doubt I will start in Lawrence but may try to intercept you guys somewhere. Seems like it took a lot of time for the lunch stop in Atchison, then later my chain broke, so we bailed at Wathena.

Hey Dean. Lunch won't take that long this year. That lunch you spoke about was good, but as you say it was LONG (1&1/2half hrs as I remember). People can eat where ever they want. I will be grabbing a sandwich at the Wathena greasy spoon burger joint. I forgot its name, but it's the only one in town right on the highway. We will be there about 11;30 or so. usually 20 minutes in and out the door.

We will again meet any KC riders that want to join us at the main gate to the Leavenworth county fairgrounds located about 1/4 mile East of Tonganoxie ks on highway 16. Be gassed up and ready to go please.

This might come as a suprise, but the river road is not going to be on the route this year. We have all done it many times so a little different route up to Wathena this year. Riders from KC might want to try it on the way home as it puts you closer to KC for the finish.

Lets all cross our fingers and wish for good weather, David H

This is awkward---------------But I can't do this ride as posted. I have a church workday I need to attend, so this ride will be postponed till early Nov. If anyone wants to take the lead and still do it on the 9th feel free to go for it. Sorry, David H
