Re: Chadwick Nov 7 weekend

no worries, if things turn around. We're heading down after the kids get out of school, camping in Cobb Ridge.

Look for the Dodge Ram BAT (Big Ass Truck) and a BATH (Big Ass Toy Hauler) with a big Ducati Desmo Valve train drawing on the nose.

Finally going to try out Chadwick for the first time since moving here, taking the family down after school on Nov 6 and camping it.

Re: Monthly TAR September, October, November, December

If the planets align tomorrow, which is looking like they are right now, I'm going to try and make the meeting Tuesday evening. Hope to see some of you there.

Re: Missouri Off Highway Vehicle Alliance (MOHVA)

That's good to hear. Coming from the Pacific Northwest, we have quite a lot of public lands/trail systems, and some private, and both are always being threatened, mainly by the Sierra Club, but a lot of little factions etc. I've been a member of a few off road clubs, the money is great to help fight...

Re: TAR Fall Ride Oct. 22-25

I'll chime in. The best combo I've found is a D606 rear and an MT21 front.

planning a shake down ride

finally got most of the farkles on the ADV R and need a good 1-2 day trip.

I was wondering if there was a fun/interesting (maybe not to smart) of a track to ride along the Missouri river from KC out to Herman?

Re: SPOT Messenger

Nice unit, along the lines of avalanche beacons. Nice to see the price coming down. You're right though, it's an "all in" device.

Re: SPOT Messenger

I think being in the Pacific NW had a lot to do with coverage, Spot uses Globalstar which is a bit limited up north. Inreach uses the Iridium network which, back when it was being built had some very deep pockets (NSA/DOD) funding a lot of the satellite launches.

Re: SPOT Messenger

there are two devices to chose from, the SE and the Explorer, the main difference is that the explorer includes internal mapping suite. Again personal preference, but I've found that putting all your eggs in one basket is risky out in the wild. Here's my setup: Montana 600 for maping/tracks Inreach ...

Re: SPOT Messenger

Dang, that sucks. But it does show the value in the trackers. I used the Spot for a number of years, most of my rides have been solo in the mountains for days at a time. Here are my findings. Spot is "Ok" but the sat coverage is iffy at best, if you have it facing south, and you have a clear souther...

Re: FNG here

That's one of those things I just never had a chance to do, I always envied the people that could. Broken scapula on one side, and a cast on the other hand....just wasn't in the cards.

I should start cruising craigslist to find an old wheelchair, just to get it out of my system.

Re: FNG here

dang, Anniversary weekend, we're taking off without the kids.

I remember one time, way back in 2003 I decided to race on our anniversary weekend....I ended up in the hospital for a few days across the state and was in a wheelchair for 2 months......No riding on Anniversary weekends anymore.... haha

FNG here

Hey all, Just saying hi, moved to the KC area from the PNW a few months back. Now that I'm finally getting settled into the house, and Job and the family is as well, it's time to get my feet wet around here. My Background, started riding dirt at 8 years old in Montana, first bike was an HD/Aermacci ...
