Thanks for the input MacWildcat. I took the head and cylinder into Letko and they have sent it off to Millennium technologies to get looked over. Im expecting at least a large bill. Hope its ok enough to fix. Man I love that bike!!

Weather channel lookes like its warmer today (Saturday) so im going to drag the kids kicking and screaming to Perry to ride. I will be watching since the ktm head and cylinder are off to tour the Millennium factory.

Katbeanz, I have been looking at sending the head off to get cleaned and resurfaced if needed. May do it anyway even if it looks ok by Letko. Thanks

Pulled the top end yesterday. Head looked a little rough but flat by my tools. Head gasket looked ok. Big surprise was the top of the piston was chipped in two areas under the intake valves. Cylinder looked ok. It had some scuffs above TDC but not a scratch otherwise. The rings looked shot. No crack...

Didn't get very far east yesterday but that was my own fault that I kept sidetracking on deadend trail roads. I'm going to stomach some payment up 123 north east and then head back west at around Fort Douglas. I'll try to upload some pictures if I can figure out how.

I spent a lot of time making the KTM 525 into a short range adventure bike but no where in all the blogs did anyone mention the most important feature. Thank you to my wife for giving me a pair of bright orange underwear this morning. Now, im ready!!

MLK weather is looking fantastic. Im planning a dualsport ride but am still up in the air on location and times. I will be on my plated 525. Im thinking atleast one overnight, trailer down into SE missourI or arkansas area. Im open for ideas if people wants to come. Im good for Friday through Monday.

Agree with the above. Awesome ride. Clocked 384 miles in 12.5 hours. Im sore and tired but more bummed the bike is parked.

Planning on taking the 525 that way tomorrow to try it out with its new adventure gear on. So if you see an orange bike with a giant gas tank stop an say high.

Saved by the rain. I was disappointed I would not be able to bring out the kids due to schedule stuff. Just got on and see its going to be later. I will be watching.
