Point and Shoot Camera

I know there is probably a thousand threads at ADV on Point and Shoot cameras - but, since you folks haven't steered me wrong any other advice, figured you all might be a good source to start with. I recently bought, and returned the Sony CyberShot 14.1MP I bought a few weeks ago. It was OK for a ch...

Re: 1st Annual RideForum Enduro Skills Challenge!

There's a good chance I'll be in the KC area that weekend, so, I might include myself as one of the 'watchers' and be social for a bit.

Re: Long Distance Trip Planning

Any one have any tips / suggestions on GPS units? What are you using, do you like it, is there another one you wish you would have gotten, have a good (ie: functional) one you are upgrading from and need to sell it? Most of the folks that I have ridden with that prowl these parts, roll with the Gar...

Re: Long Distance Trip Planning

Happy to share, although I learned most of everything I wanted to know about hammock camping from this feller: shugemery. He's got a few series devoted to hammocks that have some pretty informative stuff - for example: shug likes to camp in below freezing weather, the colder the better, and he offer...

Re: Long Distance Trip Planning

Jasoomain, how do you like the Hennessy Hammock? that is what I was looking at getting instead of a tent. As for the Hennesey - I hated it. Not that the quality was bad, or I didn't like sleeping in a hammock - I love sleeping in hammocks - they are awesome. However, the Hennesey has a flaw in it's...

Re: Long Distance Trip Planning

The one thing that I would add about camping vs. Hotel, is, that if you are not an avid camper, or even someone who sometimes enjoys a night out in the woods, I would avoid the camping route and just make your life easier and stay in cheaper hotel/motels. Plus, hotels and motels are everywhere - goo...

Thanks for the update, Eddie. I'm really hoping my vacation works out, now! I'm a sucker for boat rides.

Re: Minnesota May 30- June 2

Well, after that little nugget and after doing some research over at ADV and the interwebs, the more inclined I am to think my preliminary tour was, was very ambitious. And I just don't want to commit that much vacation to one ride, or, skip out on stuff because I am running out of time trying to st...

Re: Minnesota May 30- June 2

Eddie's post made me think about a very preliminary route I had in mind for touring the Great Lakes. After spending the morning trying to find the link to that route and spending exactly 30 seconds rerouting the thing to include Money Creek, MN - If my vacation schedule works out, it would be fun to...

TomTom Rider

TomTom enters the motorcycle GPS market. Most of you guys have the 60csx or Montana's but, TomTom is coming out with their version of the 'Zumo.' It's got some neat features, namely sharing routes via BlueTooth and, it's cheaper than the aforementioned fancy GPS's :). The Original article says price...

Re: Talimena Arkansas/Oklahoma

Here's my own little trip through Talimena last fall. Not that many pictures, and like drzCharlie, it was rainy and overcast when I took the photos.

Talimena Scenic Highway via SirGoogle.

That album should be public, if it isn't - please let me know.

Re: 4th Annual Winter Bald Eagle Ride, January 18-21, 2013

Is that Parnell Rd or Parnell Dry Creekbed? Impressive work! At the 2 minute mark you should of kicked your right leg out. hah, Troy was being a good friend and helping me out when I needed it. Kicking his bike over probably would not have gone over too well. I remember seeing the sign when w...

Well, here's that fancy video of some yahoo on a fully loaded Wee with street tires riding up Pannell Road you all have been dying to see! It contains some adult language, so, watch it at work at your own risk. The audio is a bit muffled, I need to get one of those external mic thingies for the GoPr...

Re: 4th Annual Winter Bald Eagle Ride, January 18-21, 2013

OK, I don't know if it's photobucket, my weak internet connection, or my other computer, but I had half of day two ready to post, then it all locked up and went away. So, here is the photobucket link. These are in no order and haven't been cropped or enhanced, just straight from the camera. The pro...

I spent some time this evening going through what photos I had. I'd post them here, but, once you see them, you might guess why I didn't shrink them enough to 'break' Troy's web-page layout. You can find them here: http://sdrv.ms/XSFChY (which is SkyDrive) If'n you prefer to look at them on SirGoogl...

Eddie, what was the name of that Academy we stopped at? Trying to tag my photos, and can't, for the life of me, remember where it was and what you had said about the structure.

Re: 4th Annual Winter Bald Eagle Ride, January 18-21, 2013

I made it home about 5:30 or so Sunday night, maybe closer to 6:00. Luckily for me, the temperature was fine and no heated gear needed, looks like the warmer air stayed south a bit longer. I had purchased an Olympia one-piece (let me know if you have any problems picking it out or finding me in any ...
