Re: October ride
Oxford sounds fine by me....can probably wait until after TAR dinner on Tuesday to figure out how many rooms we need. Becoming certified to hang glide is on my bucket list. I've always wanted to hang glide but after watching those guys take off at Mt. Magazine it really motivated me....seems like th...

Chadwick Oct. 11-14
My son has fall break (I never got a Fall break?) the 2nd week of October so we will be in Chadwick Oct. 11-14. I've never spent 4 consecutive days in Chadwick so I'm making a big assumption that my body will endure 4 days of this type riding! I know most of you have to work at least part of that ti...

Re: 4th Annual Winter Bald Eagle Ride, January 18-21, 2013
I think that I did this in reverse...I've had heated gear for several years but until now, didn't have a bike that would run the heated gear without the battery going dead. Assuming no snow, ice or arctic blast I should be good to go!

Re: October ride
If it rains, or is supposed to that weekend, are we still on for the ride or will we move the ride to the other weekend we were considering? I figure that some moderate trails become impassable on big bikes, but I have been wrong before. The TARKC Godfather (Randy, allkidd) needs to vote, but I can...

Re: Local fab shop
For $109 at Rocky Mountain (link at bottom of page) we purchased a Samson Bed Rack...works great. Easy to load two bikes in forwards and then we load a third bike in backwards using the eye bolt on the rack to stabilize the rear tire.

Re: Sept 22 / 23 at Bender's
I've always wanted to try Benders but it has never worked out but this Sunday should work. I've got church in the morning so I wouldn't be able to get there until about 12:30...how convenient, right after the work! I would skip church but I work this Sunday morning so I could leave from Lees Summit ...

Re: Trail Riding with the Bird Man
Nothing against the Honda 230 but I would spend a little extra money and get a better dirt bike...your body will thank you for it. The suspension on the 230 is not very good and will beat up your body. Compared to technology of 30 years ago the crf230 is okay but nothing like a good modern bike. I m...

Re: Sep 22, 2012: Mark Twain Dualsport
Options one and two sound good but I'm afraid that I have to stay home for option three that weekend...out of town relatives are in town that weekend. I pretty much have the green light to be gone every weekend except for Sept. 22 because of relatives and the next weekend, Sept. 29 because of my wif...

Re: October ride
Lets plan on finalizing the date tomorrow. Part of the fun of a ride like this is not carrying a lot of luggage. For rides like this in the past I've purchased a cargo net bungee (not sure if that is the exact right name) at Wal-mart then put my few belongings in a plastic bag and secure them on my ...

Re: October 26-28: Off-Road!
I'm always good for Chadwick but that weekend we have a trip planned for Brock Creek. Couple of guys we met in Colorado this summer have a small, WUDI, type ride at Brock that weekend. There are 34 miles of single track all connected together. Apparently, great riding the only negative is the distan...

90% of the ride will not be on pavement so I would go with the xr650. I have a BMW GS and a KTM 450 and I'm taking the 450.hrdrckclmr wrote:What kind of riding is "planned" for this ride is this big bike friendly or is it an ride for the xr650?

Re: Finger Lakes riding area...words of wisdom?
Fingers is slightly better than deepwater but it is basically all dirt so if it rains be careful. They have a nice motocross track and even if you don't care to ride the track it is entertaining to watch amateurs try to act like travis pastrana.

Cool stuff, I never knew about the jeep on Am Flag, is that recent? There's supposed to be a bunch of old wrecks along Agate Creek that didn't make one of the turns on Monarch. http://advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=19310751&postcount=7 After updating mapsource topo I finally rediscovered some s...
