Re: Fine dining experience

Typically, its all about riding when I go down there, but this one is a special adventure I've organized for my brothers. Four of us (there are 5 brothers, but one can't make it) will be doing a 50/50 motorcycle/hiking thing. Each day is planned to include 2 to 6 miles round-trip of hiking along wi...

Ozark Forest ride with Bohawk

Bohawk and I have talked about riding for a few days some time the first couple weeks of June. We were thinking it would be fun to put some trails together to make a track going from the Southeast corner of the Ozark Forest to the Northwest. Currently, we have a good track from the Southeast, near B...

June TAR

Trying to be optimistic about the weather, I'm confident that we should be able to ride to our June get together. I've booked us space on the deck at River's Bend in Parkville. I've never been there or heard anything about it but the pictures on their website looked good and they have a nice deck. W...

We can compare our Arkansas stories with their Dakar stories!
I bet they didn't ride through a river as long or wide as the Big Piney. Or, have a bike get washed away in the current.

Re: Spring TAR ride

To ride the ST you pretty much need to have a smaller bike. Define "smaller bike." I've always defined "small bike" as DRZ400 or smaller/lighter. The rest is skill of course. A DRZ would be considered heavy for some of that Brock Creek singletrack. There are sections in there that are really more e...

Smaller than a DRZ...

Actually, I'm thinking we take the back trails to Brock Creek but probably don't want to ride the single track. I've heard that over there and back makes for a full day without riding ST.

Spring TAR ride

Only a few days until the TAR Spring ride and the weather looks great. Highs in the low 70's, lows in the upper 50's with a 10% to 30% chance of rain. I just checked with Valarie at Mack Pines and the cabins are now all booked. Still plenty of RV and primitive camping sites. She also said the restau...

May 7th meeting Dakar

Again this year, the local 2013 Dakar participants, Mike Stanfield, Luis Belaustegui and Scott Spears, will be telling their story of the 2013 Dakar at the May TAR meeting. Luis completed the rally on the smallest bike in the field, a KTM 150 two stroke! Freedom will be providing pizza and so just b...

Re: Spring Ride-April 26,27,28

The TAR spring ride is rapidly approaching. I've attached the tracks that I've been working on. They are easily two good days of riding. Mack Pines is in the middle of the tracks so I figure we can go West one day and East another day. The adv rider link below is a ride report of someone riding at l...

Re: April TARKC meeting?

Knowing that Coach's has a couple back rooms, I just tried unsuccessfully to reserve one of their rooms for April 2. They wanted a guarantee that we would spend $300. There is a Panera at 103rd and State Line...on the Northeast corner. Lets meet there. I will get there early to get tables in the cor...

Re: April TARKC meeting?

We've been waiting to see if the Freedom Dakar truck and bikes come in but at this point I think it is time to move the Dakar guys to May. So, yeah lets meet Tuesday the 2nd. I'm thinking a good, central location would be something just off 435 and Wornall or State line, Roe etc. There are several p...

Re: Spring Ride-April 26,27,28

I've got a tent spot reserved for the weekend. I'm still trying to decide between riding down, or putting it in the truck. I also have a trailer, if someone needs a ride, that is an option. Right now I'm leaning towards the truck, and bringing my grill and cooler too. Ryan Bonanza Steve and I are t...

Re: Spring Ride-April 26,27,28

So what's the most recent arrangements for everyone? Does everyone who reserved a cabin have it filled, or maybe some of you have open spaces within your cabins? Originally, I was planning on bringing my camper, but then I decided to try and sell it. The guy that said he was going to buy it flaked ...

Re: Spring Ride-April 26,27,28

My son and I just spent 4 days camping, (in our climate controlled camper), at Mack Pines. With our TAR trip coming up in April I thought that I would share some of our impressions of the area. There is an abundance of all types of riding in the area. For those who like the fairly easy, gravel road ...
