Spent quite a few winters planning the routes with David for the Hillbilly DS event. Maybe sometime in the future I can revive some of the best routes for a group ride.

Hi Carl. I went down the DR650, DRZ400, KTM and Husqvarna path. I did really enjoy the power of the Kraut bikes, but the power could be a handful from time to time. I tries the Husky and KTM for dual-sporting, but they are just not comfortable for very long on gravel...definitely skittish on pavemen...

I ran flush mount rear blinkers on my DS bikes. They have the advantage of being stock size vs. mini blinkers for good visibility. This keep the blinkers close to the bike frame with very little chance of breaking.

Yep, the freeze/heat process works for some of the process, installing the crank in one side of the case. The final case assembly requires a puller.

Inquired on Thumpertalk....brass non-magnetic flakes usually indicate connect rod bearings. Took the engine apart today, sure enough, both ends of connecting rod have play. First thing I checked was the primary gear nut...tight. I thought the brass was a little puzzling too.

Had a noticeable knock before we went to Arkansas. By the time we got done, the knock was ugly. When I drained the oil there was brass flicks.
I am guessing brass = connecting rod bearing.
