Correct. There are several Garmin MapSource products you could use, but Mike taught me that for dualsport adventure, you most likely want the "United States TOPO" product. If you also want to do a lot of city to city driving and want all the POI (points of interest) data such as restaurants, hotels,...

The consensus seems to be "lets all just get along". I think some of us--me especially--are guilty of letting our frustrations get the best of us. Hopefully nobody actually wants to divide the Kansas riders. From what everyone has shared in this topic, it seems the way to proceed is to just be happy...

...and I got the idea for the 60CS from Safirimike who taught me all I know about GPS. Although the 60CS is about a perfect fit for dualsport, handlebar mounted usage, it is a poor choice for Chris' dad. For a purely car-based unit and something to load ALL the us maps on without need to ever connec...

We thoughtless, tasteless, poopy-headed nincompoops think you need to dump that heavy pig of a bike and get a bike that is not intentionally trying to reduce you to tenderized hamburger. A 400 /450 KTM comes to mind.... Stu Your KTM-loyalty is commendable! Not appreciated---just commendable!

I (and I think we) appreciate Roger's reply. He is protecting his character, and that is understandable. I'm disappointed that Roger did not actually address any of the specific issues we complained about. To protect my own character, I do feel a need to reply to some specific points. Nobody here is...

come on guys don't get your panties in a wad. There is room for both sites on the internet. Roger did give a warning to retrieve stuff before he dumped his site. Seems to me Troys site works well for the Northeast Kansas- missouri area. And BTK works for south central Kansas. We overlap somewhat so...

BTK Forum is back?! What the heck?!

So today I received an email from a good friend telling me that Roger's BackroadsTouring.org website once again is hosting a forum. Huh? What has changed in the last 30 days? I thought he shut it down for his own valid reasons? Well, it is back, you can check it out at http://www.backroadstouring.or...

I hate to ride alone for safety reasons. What are you talking about?! Nobody ever gets hurt riding over at your place.....except certain DR350 riders who lose control at the top of short hill climbs. Doh! Actually, yeah, I'm glad I wasn't riding alone---I needed you to pull start my DR350 after you...

I'm jealous! I was home working on my kitchen remodel, which is going splendidly. What a great day to ride it would have been. Speaking of Captain America, Safirimike stopped by on his "Captain America" BMW Dakar. When I saw him pull into the driveway, I REALLY wanted to go ride! Last time I was at ...

My chest protector fell apart -- really a defect from Fox in my opinion. I need to replace it. I landed directly on my right side with my arm up---where the chest protector is open anyway. I really don't think it would have done a thing for me in this particular incident. I've also been thinking abo...

I'd love to join you guys--Milford's School creek is some great riding indeed. However, I'm just returning from a Colorado ski vacation, my ribs are still healing from my unfortunate meeting with the ground 3 weeks ago, and my bike still needs repair. Doh! I'm pathetic!

Motorcycle-related Links - Share 'em!

I'm going to build a motorcycle-related links tool that allows registered users to add links to various link categories. To seed this effort, I'm asking all of you to share the URLs to your favorite motorcycle-related websites. These can be dealers, clothing vendors, after-market parts distributors,...

I've researched this in detail for Missouri including a long conversation and emails with Mo Hwy Dept. From my research and in talking to people who've gone through the process in KS and elsewhere, it seems to me the success or failure of the process has a lot more to do with the particular employee...

Why in the world don't they put on a cush hub for a bike that they made street legal? Why don't they put on real bark busters, real skid plates and exhaust protection? An the list could go on... I've asked the same thing and the answer I get is that the manufacturers are in a spec war. Weight. If o...

Regarding what to post where -- don't worry about it. People are welcome to post business plugs. Heck, I don't even care if a dealer wants to create an account just to post his used bikes in our classifieds. Only if and when somebody starts causing a disruption to the community will we worry about m...

40 Registered Users after only 5 Days!

Hello, Dualsport Community! Well, you guys are amazing! It's hard to believe RideForum.NET launched just 5 days ago. Here we are already with 40 registered users and over 100 posts! (One of the 41 registered users is a test account I created--so 40 registered users.) Of course, it's not about the nu...

I recorded and watched this last year---VERY fun to watch! No, I would not ride with those guys! Yes, I would attempt the track--but not in a competition---at my own speed taking my time in full gear and expecting to bail off many, many times. Plus, I'd really rather attempt it on a light, powerful ...

Hmmm.....me thinks "slimtrader" be none other than Mr. Mike Jennen. New KTM 450exc? Just say "NO!"

I would LOVE to have one of those. Since they are #1 new, and #2, hardly anybody ever sells their used exc, the chance of picking one up cheap is about non-existent.
