Re: Don't ride during Deer Gun season

I spoke to zecatfish (Terry) on the phone this past weekend to get some intel for our ride. He mentioned that we should be wary of riding that weekend if it's deer season (modern gun). Best I can tell, we'll be riding in Arkansas' hunting zones 1, 2, 6, 7, & 8. It's a LOT of information , but from ...

When creating a post, notice the "attachments" section. Don't try to use Crapatalk to do this.

Re: Last Minute Get Together for Dinner and camping.

Weather looks GREAT for hanging out and camping this weekend! Eddie has a great place down there!

Eddie, maybe post the GPX track for the great dualsport loop you led me on down there with all the creek crossings?

Re: Fall TARkansas ride

I can't open the attachment on the first page or copy it to my email to see? :( I'll take some help Troy or ???? :) That file is a Garmin-proprietary file. (GDB probably stands for Garmin Database.) You can open it natively with Garmin's old Mapsource program (free) or import it into their newer Ba...

Re: Trans Kansas Trail anyone

How long do you think this would take to ride? i would say about a day and a half, or a very good day if you want to push it. It is about 650 miles  How fast do you ride? 650 miles of gravel equates to 2.5 to 3 days for me. You don't know Luc! This is the same guy who thinks a Dusty Butt 100...

Re: Trans Kansas Trail anyone

Nice effort, Luc! This TKT would be great to have in the bag for folks asking for an off-pavement route across KS. Hard to say where most folks would want to enter and exit the state. Part of it depends on where they start from and where they are headed. A rider who looks for a mostly off-pavement p...

Re: Pomme de terre Lake April 27-29th

Thanks for sharing, guys! I'm really glad you did that 3 water crossing min maint section! That route has been nagging me--begging me to come explore. Glad you did it and took pics. That first crossing DOES look deep...and the water is low right now, too. Wonder if there was a better way to cross bu...

Re: So Mr. Giant, sir, how is that grand basin?

As for the bags, the best version I've seen are a pair of Levi's. Just ziptie the legs, have someone put a heavy duty American made zipper across the waistband, then fill your pants up with all your crap and sit it on your bike and strap it down. Done deal! Use some of those heavy-duty jeans with k...

Re: So Mr. Giant, sir, how is that grand basin?

These days it's tough to make the decision to buy American made products since we are forced to purchase so many thing made in china on a daily basis. It's a moral dilemma for me. Curse you Harbor Freight! :| For me it comes down to quality. "Buying American" does not always automatically mean high...

Re: Fall TARkansas ride

Two things. First, I am very much wanting/planning to be a part of this ride. However, the doc says probably 5 weeks for my fractured wrist to heal....that puts me right up to the edge to make this trip. I hope I heal quickly. Second, Luggage--there is a good luggage thread going over here . I'm sur...

Re: So Mr. Giant, sir, how is that grand basin?

MoRidin found this Giant Loop Mojave knock-off . I think it looks great and the price is VERY good....but...there is some heated discussion over on AdvRider about this manufacturer stealing intellectual property from Giant Loop . Also, based on the experiences of some folks in that thread, it seems ...

Doc says it's barely a hairline fracture. Gave me a nice brace (no cast) and said probably 5 weeks to heal. Follow-up in 3 weeks.

Another GREAT ride with Link! We had 6 riders following Link on Sat and 4 on Sun. I led us for a 20 mile loop Fri evening. About 150 miles total for the 3 days with a lot of narrow singletrack. Geno, if you see this, THANKS for riding with us! I had new mesh pants with no pockets, so my camera was n...

Awesome! Wife and I were in awe of nature's beauty as we drove through Flaming Gorge during winter several years ago. I have a photo where I got out and just stood with my arms out as the huge snowflakes covered me. It was near rabbit ears pass where we rescued some folks in a Jeep Cherokee that had...

I'm really looking forward to this to the ride and meeting the other riders! Any update on what time I should arrive Saturday morning? We will be heading down to Salem sometime tomorrow afternoon. Kickstands up 8am Sat. Not a lot of food options in the area. Sat night we'll most likely eat at Koy's...
