Re: NC Big Bike Ride June 12 to 15

Route suggestions? I hear the Rockies are nice. Maybe you can hit those then swing by the California & Oregon coasts on your way to NC.

Wife? Does your girlfriend know about her? Awkward.

Have fun!

Good news! The movie is a go! Some of us plan to get a burger at the Red Robin about 6:00 pm before the 7:30 showing.

Re: KCMO POLICE TRAINING

I just wanted to refer folks to last year's thread if you want more color: http://www.rideforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1855 It really is very good training. I've taken it twice, and I have been impressed both times. I'd go again, but they told me last time that I have 100% mastered all the techniqu...

Re: The John Penton Story June 23rd Palazzo Theatre OP, Kans

I just reserved 2 tickets. I had not heard of Gathr.Us before--pretty cool concept to get interesting movies here that don't necessarily have mass appeal. They put a hold on my card, but don't actually charge me for the tickets unless the tipping point is reached. Now that I've reserved 2 tickets, t...

Re: It's all about the kids...should it be?

Thanks for the replies, guys. So to bring this around to dualsport riding, it was exactly that desire to get back to rural values that fueled my early passion for dualsport riding. I recall my first day trips on my KLR 650 as I would ride 100 miles or so of gravel roads past crops, livestock, creeks...

Re: Colorado

Is there any fact to the elevation change and the effects on bikes, carborated and FI? :?: Absolutely! Combustion, and thus HP, relies on oxygen and fuel. The higher the elevation, the less oxygen. A modern, fuel-injected machine should account for this via sensors and decrease the fuel going into ...

First I need to say, Daryl, I hope you did not in any way see my post as a personal accusation directed at you. That post was neither directed at you nor an accusation. I am more asking questions than making statements. I want us to think . I know you personally--you are a great father! You are acti...

Re: Mentors WANTED: Father & Son Dirt Bike Adventures

Troy, a guy at work bought an atv for his kids, and got some boots in the deal. He asked me if I knew what to do with them, and I thought of this. So, I have a pair of size 10 mx boots for you. Let me know a way to get them to you. Ryan Can you just fly low over the house and drop them with a parac...

Re: It's all about the kids...should it be?

A child in sports (or the arts) and quality family time are not mutually exclusive. The story you describe of your daughter's passion and skill for ice skating is not at all the same as the perceived notion that EVERY child should be playing soccer (at least in JoCo). One of my neighbors has 2 chil...

Re: Colorado

Get ready to be overwhelmed with information if the right people see your post! Time of year is easy -- July & August are the best bets to not get blocked by snow at high elevation. The mountain temps are great and it's the time of year the temps suck here at home...so you aren't missing much great ...

Re: Look Up

Thanks for sharing the video with me, bird man. Of course there are great, legitimate uses of the technology and the "social" media. However, I think a lot of folks need to be really honest about how many hours of each day are spent browsing/posting on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and on...

Re: It's all about the kids...should it be?

A very good friend shared this with me in response to my post. It's not exactly the same message, but I find it resonates with the same heart that prompted my writing. Basically, the idea of something more--something greater. Giving up something good for something better. My kids are taking a school...

Look Up

Ironic, perhaps, to use social media to spread this word, but this is a message worth hearing.
