Re: Dusty Butt 1,000 :?
Troy has said most of it, ended up getting caught by surprise by 2 deers jumping out of a corn field. I avoided the first one but not the second one. People who were riding with me said that I was out for a few minutes. When I came back out it took me awhile to remember what Iwas doing and who I was...

Re: Dusty Butt 1,000 :?
Looks like other riders are backing out on me. One guy from Arkansas had to pull this week for family reasons. There is another gentleman from Colorado that really wants to do it but he had to pull out because of the rain in 2009 and he really wants to finish it. To his credit road conditions make i...

Then after realizing that with necessary breaks you need to average close to 50MPH to make it work...and that many of those hours would be in the dark, I decided it was not for me.
I need to fix up your math, average needs to be 41.66 see that seems a lot more doable now

Dusty Butt 1,000 :?
Just thought I will get a thread started that I will try to keep updated as I attempt to do a 1,000 miles in less than 24 hours on dirt with a few other crazies. As usual this started by a ride report I read on ADVrider about a fail attempt in 2009 of some guys trying to ride a thousand miles in les...

Re: Manhattan area riders, need some help.
Yea I love Hopkins creek road, I remember if you go far enough north there is this low maintenance place where I had to turn around once with my 640 when the snow was melting as I was packing in too much mud everywhere. There is actually a place to sell on it I found the other day. It only has 6 acr...

Re: Manhattan area riders, need some help.
Is that Larry with the outriggers out on a Wee? You might check the real estate on CL. I think your cheaper areas will be N of here towards Riley and S towards Council Grove. Sure is Larry ! Yep that is what I figured, I wish something would come up south on deep creek road or near by, beautiful ar...

Manhattan area riders, need some help.
Just thought I would post here as I know that a lot of you guys ride the cool places in the area that are more remote than where most of the mortals go. My wife and I are going to be relocating to the Manhattan area before the end of the year. We do have horses so we are in search of a house with so...

Re: Our own Gagnaou has a 5 star KS report on AdvRider
Yes, one of my favorite rides also. A good gnarly mud ride is great every once and awhile. Good thing about Clay county is the sand content.... the mud doesn't clog up as bad. I remember attempting to keep up with Luc on the way back to Manhattan. Got home and realized I had ridden miles on a flat ...

Re: Update from Luc, the flying Frenchman
Great report Luc. When did you do this? Did I miss how you got the KTM. Did you rent it or buy it down there? Looks like you all had a great time. Would love to go down there and ride myself some time. Hayden This was over the Thanksgiving break so not very long ago. I rented the KTM, it was about ...
