Re: Back Roads might be good on Friday?

I was out yesterday (Tue.) in Platte County and the gravel roads were not fun! Ice, mud, and ruts which made my DR seem even heavier. Snow drifts also covered half of the road in places. Shaded areas were still ice covered which caused me to clinch the seat cover tightly with both hands on the bars!...

Re: Looking for a bolt

I think it's A&N Hardware on Swift in NKC, or Metal by the Foot on Truman road. Both have a good supply of metric hardware.

Re: Husqvarna TR650

Yeah, Donnell's has a full line of Husky's on the floor once again. I bought my first Husky from Donnell back in '75 and then they didn't handle them again 'til just recently. Had to buy my next from Freedom, a '85 model. I had a new Honda CRF250L follow me home from Donnell's last week. It's heavy,...

We saw more than a dozen eagles last winter up at Squaw Creek if it's too cold/icy to go east.

Re: Harley Guy

There's a saying about imitation and flattery. I don't claim to be an HD lover, but a metric cruiser is not an HD. They are more modern, efficient, and cheaper, granted but why not lighter weight and better suspended? The Japanese also tried to build Ducatis in the past, RC51 Honda and some Suzuki m...

Re: Harley Guy

OK, let's be careful about the Harley stuff. Along with 2 trials bikes, a dualsport Suzuki, and a cafe build, I also have my first HD! It's different and interesting in a HD (heavy duty) way. I don't drink, wear a full face helmet, and normally an Aerostich, so no one ever waves at me except the met...

Re: TAR June 5th meeting

I will not be able to go to Chadwick on Friday as discussed at Tuesday's meeting. Life seems to get in the way when making plans. I even got both Trials bikes re-geared today. Sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused. I'll plan on going as soon as possible and will post on this site if anyone i...

Re: Fifty Years of Kicks

I'll be turning 70 later this year and mountain biking, riding dual sport bikes, street bikes and my trials bikes are my main form of entertainment. Riding a trials bike at Chadwick is as much fun as possible even though my strength and stamina are not like in the past. As long as I can, I'll keep r...

Re: Chadwick May 28-31

I sold the Ducati and the KTM last summer. Wasn't using them enough to justify. The Ducati was magic from about 70mph and up but I wasn't touring and ended up using the Dual Sport around town. Ducati free for the first time in many years. Also since Letko quit handling them I didn't want to have to ...

Re: Chadwick May 28-31

I was down there last Wed. and Thur. Riding a Trials bike is like cheating. Almost every trail has some very difficult spots due to having to re-route sections out of the creek bottoms. Still my favorite place to ride in the mid west and has been for over 40 years!

Freedom Cycles in Grandview has 5 Dakar rally bikes sitting in their showroom as of today, Thurs. the 19th of April. I was really impressed to see them up close. They had all been used very hard!
Also a new '11 450EXC for a great price, drool!!

Finally had a chance to go through the Kansas M/Cycle Museum in Marquette KS. last weekend with the FSSNOC group. I highly recommend it to any enthusiast interested in vintage dirt and road bikes. Kansas was a hotbed of dirt track racing in the past. "Stan the Man" put it all together.

Re: Chadwick Fall 2011 Photos

That place is a ball on a trials bike! Sold my KTM 'cause I know I couldn't ride those trails on it anymore. It sure ain't like it was 30 or 40 years ago, since they moved most of the trails up out of the creek bottoms. I now have two Scorpa Long Rides for trail riding, a smoker and a 4 stroke. Feet ...
