Here are the only two pics I took that were any good. And I am not sure I am happy with the post on them, I feel I may have went too heavy handed on them..

Re: Trans Kansas Trail anyone
So any one want to go ride this next week? Seriously... Like Monday Morning  Don, you should give us the whole story here 8) any pictures? Yeah, so it was a bit shorter of a trip then I had planned. . . I left in the morning about 9am, made it up to Leavenworth. The trail starts just outsi...

Re: Over $600 for a Garmin 60CSX?!
Yeah, the 60's are crazy expensive. The 62s start around 250 on amazon. Speaking of GPS's, can anyone rattle off some models of decent ones that are cheap? <$250. I'd kind of like to find one that I could up/download maps with. The Oregons and 62s are around $250. Cabella's Has most if not all of th...

Re: Top Box Mounting ?
What are you putting into the Pelican case? As it is a top case, I would assume light stuff (sleeping bag, clothes, etc.). Keep CG lower by putting heavy crap in side bags. If that is the case [pun], I would skip the plywood and just use the case. Pelican cases tend to be pretty stiff. Plywood is a...

Re: Top Box Mounting ?
I assumed the hinges went towards the front, thanks for confirming that. I never thought about the wind catching an unlatched case, that is a very good point Troy. The thick plywood was just some scrap I had laying around. As far as the quick mounts go, I looked into them, but I don't really want to...

Re: Top Box Mounting ?
So does this look legit? Ya know, before I go and punch a bunch of holes in a perfectly good pelican case? And one more question, is is better to mount the hinge towards the front or the rear, or does it matter? http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u240/_DonG/DR650/20130322_210258_zpsb5ed5b32.jpg http...

Re: Long Distance Trip Planning
I've struggled with the camping thing. I really wish that I could enjoy sleeping on the ground, typically in the rain, and eating bland, boiled pre-packaged freeze dried food. Not to mention the hot, cold, bugs, no shower, no toilet, mud, dust, grime, dark, coyotes, bears, packing, un-packing, can'...

Re: Long Distance Trip Planning
Thanks for digging that up mike. I spent about 3 or 4 hours on Google last night looking at GPS (and several more this morning), but I didn't come across that thread. I read through that thread, but I never saw any one mention if the touch screen models work with gloves on or not. I found some other...

Re: Long Distance Trip Planning
Thank you Andy.
Eddie, Andy, or any one else with a touch screen Garmin, do they work with gloves on? I am looking at either the Oregon 450, or the 62s...
Thanks

Re: Long Distance Trip Planning
I tried looking around for the GPS threads, but I think I was looking in the wrong spot, or suck at searching. Either way, I will search some more, because I remember seeing them too.
thanks.
thanks.

Re: Long Distance Trip Planning
WOW. Thank you for the detailed response. I was kind of wondering about the bottom entry on those and getting in and out with a bag and what not. The Warbonnet looks very nice, expensive, but very nice. And thank you for the repel rings tip, and hammock forum link. I will definitely keep that all in...

Re: Long Distance Trip Planning
Less socks, more cash. Check. Jasoomain, how do you like the Hennessy Hammock? that is what I was looking at getting instead of a tent. Mike, thanks for the tip on the Penny stove, and gear suggestions, the back packer gear route was what I was looking at. But I hadn't heard of the Penny stov...

Long Distance Trip Planning
So I am in the process of planning a week or so long trip. I am thinking of going out to Colorado. I am in the process of getting my luggage and what not mounted up. But I have a few questions... First off, any tips / tricks / suggestions for a first time long distance tripper would be greatly appre...
