It looks like spring is in full swing and hopefully everyone is making their riding plans for the months to come! In the spirit of that idea, the Razorback Riders would like to let everyone know that we will be holding our 2nd Annual "Rally @ the Rock" at our club campground in the Ozark National Forest on October 14-16, 2016. For those of you that attended last year's inaugural rally you already know what our club and our area have to offer motorcycle riders of all types.

Last year's rally was a great time for all in attendance and we want to make this year's version even better. The rally will be very similar to last year's format, but we will use some of the feedback from our participants to make the 2nd annual even better. We will still have everything from last year's rally- Razorback Rider-led rides on trails and roads, .gpx routes, etc.

A lot of the details have yet to be determined, but I will update this thread as soon as we get them hammered out in the weeks to come.

For anyone interested in last year's rally that wasn't there, here is a link to that thread- http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/s ... r.1080048/

Post-event ride reports here: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/r ... s.1099394/

Mark your calendars and we hope to see a bunch of you in October!

Well,

I think most of the STL riders are wimping out. I am planning on being there. Has anyone reserved a cabin @ Mulberry Mtn? Maybe I can bunk with a group.

We're up and running!

http://razorbackriders.org/Pre-entryDualSport/index.php

Click on the link above to get to the Rally @ the Rock preregistration site.

Preregistration will be $50 for everyone attending the rally, which will include participation in all events as well as Friday night Subway dinner and Saturday night cookout dinner as well as tent camping. Everyone that is attending the rally will need to at least be registered at this minimum level. All attendees will have the option to buy a t-shirt on the pre-registration site and there won't be any guarantee that there will be enough leftovers for people that want to buy one that they didn't reserve. Last year's shirts were a last minute deal (we had several different people that volunteered to take care of them and they all thought someone else had done it, so it came down to an 11th hour rush). My wife and a couple of other wives have volunteered this year and they are promising that this year's shirt will be MUCH better! :D

As for the RV camping fees, those will be $25 per night and will include electrical hook-up, water hook-up, and access to our facility's dump station. This fee will be per RV, so hypothetically ONE RV that is being shared by multiple people (spouses, riding buddies, etc.) will only need to pay the $25 per night, NOT $25 per person per night. Hopefully that makes sense!

Other than that, I'm open to answer any of your questions, concerns, etc. so let me know if you have any of those. Otherwise, get registered up and we'll see you in September!

Thanks for all the work Kendall. $50 just seems a bit too much for me. Maybe I'll see you next WUDI ride.

Cheers,
Consider the value provided by the Razorback Riders:
  • Maintaining a positive working relationship with the USFS -- not so easy!
  • Consistently supporting the local businesses to ensure dirt bikers are welcome in the area
  • Creating and maintaining the excellent trails outside the Mill Creek ATV system--some on their own club land
  • Friendly guides willing to lead idiots like us on the trails they work so hard to keep
  • Excellent grounds and facilities to even host an event like this
  • 2 meals
$50 is a lot of money, but considering the above, the ROI ain't too shabby. On top of this, these guys are always super welcoming to all who attend.

It's on my calendar. I have not signed up yet, but Lord willing, I plan to attend. 8)

I'm serously considering this.

If I bring the little bike and my son on his 125, thoughts on riding opprotunities for the two of us since he's not licensed etc?

I can tell you from experience riding that area and specifically with the club, you and your son will be fine...and you'll have a GREAT ride.

...unless your son is not an experienced rider! The trails down there are not exactly "beginner" trails. If that is the case, you could take him down to the Mill Creek ATV system and play on the easier sections..it's just down the road from the club grounds and no hassles riding the road to get there.

There are different kinds of rides available, but assuming you intend to hit the single-track on the dirtbikes, there is usually very minimal gravel forest roads to connect trails--and ATVs and such are allowed on the forest roads.

Dozens of rides down there--many that included young, unlicensed riders on small KTM 2-strokes--we never had an issue with law enforcement. One of my favorite memories was our group--including a 12 year old--riding down hwy 215 to eat lunch at the Oark Cafe when we passed a county Sheriff parked and watching traffic. He waved. He also waved at the 2 riders on the ATV running in front of us (no helmets).

Of course things can change as management changes, but...so far so good. 8)

I've been told if a State Trooper would happen to drive by, he might not be so tolerant, but as long as you aren't speeding and riding wheelies, you are almost certainly fine riding any road down in that area.

Thanks for the assist on answering questions, Troy! I don't really have a whole lot to add that he didn't touch on already.

As for the price, everyone is welcome to their opinion on whether or not it is a value, but we actually dropped the price to $50 this year from $75 last year. Granted, last year's price included ALL camping (tents, RVs, etc) and this year there will be a separate price for RV hook ups.

Don't forget that your $50 includes 2 meals (Friday night and Saturday night) as well as tent camping and prize giveaways. I'm not much of a salesman, so I won't try to talk anyone into spending more than they are comfortable with, but that being said $50 is not much money considering what you get.

I agree, for the money and what is being put on, it's a bargain. The fact that you're feeding people AND hosting, providing tracks etc makes it a value.

As soon as little man gets back in town, i'll see if he's up for it.

Definitely! We're actually planning on doing some pre-riding of the big bike route tomorrow, as a matter of fact.

Rob and I had a big day of planning the Rally @ the Rock big bike east track today. It was a great day for riding other than the thunderstorms that we rode right through the middle of, although it was nice to actually be cold in July in Arkansas! The track is going to be a great "sampler" of what the area has to offer for those of you who choose to run it. It consists mostly of mellow gravel roads with plenty of good scenery. If you're hungry you're in luck since this track will run you by the Oark General Store, Catalpa Cafe, and the Low Gap Cafe so there is no shortage of food availability!

Re: October 14-16 Razorback Riders Present The 2nd Annual Rally @ the Rock

Post by kendall_smith »

DATE UPDATE- We're moving the 2nd Annual Rally @ the Rock back to the original date of October 14-16.

Due to several factors, the Razorback Riders have decided to move the date for the rally back to the originally scheduled October 14-16 weekend. We originally moved the date to September in order to coincide with the Bikes, Blues, and BBQ event that takes place in the area that weekend, but the agreement between the club and the BB&BBQ event never materialized. Also, the October weekend should be much better weather-wise and there may even be a possibility that the fall colors could be starting.

For anyone that has pre-registered, please keep an eye on your email account as John Brunsgard should be contacting you with an offer for a full refund if the date change will not work for you.

All other aspects of the rally will be the same as originally planned (pricing, meals, etc.) so the only thing really changing is the date.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that the October date will work out for everyone that was wanting to attend the rally.

Argh. As it stands now, I have a conflict for that Saturday. Kendall, can't you control that club of yours?!

And now a photo because it's so easy and painless to post them and they don't even use my disk space. Yeah, life is good.
